Kiarash Tajbakhsh is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Odyssey, where he specializes in developing segmentation models for detecting multi-cancer lymph node metastasis. He earned his PhD in Materials Science from the University of Fribourg (2025), while primarily conducting his doctoral research at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa). His thesis was focused on the use of micro-CT and computer vision for the 3D histology of thyroid tumors. Kiarash holds an MSc in Optics and Laser Physics (2021), during which he engineered a phase-contrast microscope utilizing the Talbot self-imaging phenomenon. He previously earned a BSc in Physics (2018) with a focus on laser technology and coherent imaging. His experience integrates imaging physics, computer vision, and digital pathology.
