Jacob Hanimann
PhD candidate
Jacob completed his bachelor’s degree in Biology at ETH Zurich (ETHZ) in 2020, with his final semester being an exchange semester at the University of Copenhagen. After graduation, he gained practical experience as a bioinformatician intern and, subsequently, as an application developer at the Molecular Tumor Profiling Unit of the University Hospital of Zurich. He simultaneously pursued a master’s in Molecular Systems Biology at ETHZ, focusing on computational projects. These projects involved modeling transcription factor activities in cancer and conducting unsupervised deep-learning-based cellular image analysis for High Content Screenings (HCS). After his studies, Jacob briefly joined Genedata as a science intern, developing an automated segmentation-based approach for HCS analyses. Now, he is pursuing a PhD in which he investigates tumor buds and their microenvironment in colorectal cancer recurrence through single-cell spatial analysis. This project is jointly supervised by Inti Zlobec, Hannah Williams (University of Bern), and Lasse Kristensen Sommer (Aarhus University).
